You may find our office in the ‘De Gelder’ office building, inbetween the ABN AMRO Bank and Hema, belonging to the Gelderlandplein shopping mall.
Please call nr. 42 and you will find our office on the fourth floor.

You are free to come by our office during office hours.

HOW CAN I PAY AT YOUR OFFICE?
It is possible to either pay by cash or by debit/creditcard.

You may download our brochure for our individual roundtrips here (in Dutch). These roundtrips can be booked as shown, but we can also create a custom made roundtrip according to your wishes.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO BOOK TOURS/HOTELS/RESTAURANTS THROUGH TOJAPAN.NL?
Yes, we do offer a wide range of cultural activities and hotels, including spending the night in a Buddhist temple on Mount Koya, or hiking in Tsumago. We can also arrange a trip to Yakushima.


JAPAN RAIL PASS

IMPORTANT INFORMATION WHEN ORDERING JR PASSES
It is important when placing your order for the JR Pass that you include your full name (first name(s), middle name(s) + family name) as stated in your passport. When exchanging the voucher you will be asked to show your passport.

IN CASE OF CANCELLATION/LOSS OF JR PASS
Cancelling your JR Pass is possible within one year of the date of issue, only if you have not exchanged the Exchange Voucher in Japan yet. In this case you may return the voucher at our office and you will receive a refund.

Please note that the costs of cancellation are 10% of the initial amount you paid, plus €20 per JR pass.

A refund is only possible when the Exchange Voucher is returned. In the unfortunate event of having the lost the Exchange Voucher, you do not qualify for a refund.

ARE THERE ANY EXTRA COSTS WHEN ORDERING THE JR PASS?
No, we do not calculate any service fees. However, if you decide to ship your order via courier or track and trace, you may have to pay shipping costs.

HOW DO I ORDER THE JR PASS?
Through our ‘Prices‘  page or webshop you may easily place your order. If you prefer to place your order in person, you can do so at our office during office hours.

HOW DOES THE ORDER FORM WORK?
After you have added your product(s) to the shopping cart, you will have to click check out. Please make sure to fill in the form correctly and provide all details (names/age/gender/traveller status) of the travellers. Please note that the full names as stated in the passport are required.

WHY SHOULD I SHIP MY JR PASS?
If you are not able to personally pick up your order at our office or are leaving for Japan within ten days, it could be wise to ship your order.

Shipping time may depend on the chosen shipping method. For extra assurance, track and trace or courier shipping method may be chosen.

WHICH COUNTRIES DO YOU SHIP TO?
We ship to The Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, and UK. If your country is not listed, we might possible still ship to your country, but please contact us first.

WHAT ARE YOUR SHIPPING METHODS?
1. Pick up at our office in Amsterdam (free of charge)

2. Shipping per regular/normal mail PostNL (free of charge)
Please note that shipping time may take up to five days. It will not be possible to track your order.

3. UPS (track & trace)
Please note that shipping time may take up to five days (generally delivered the next working day when ordered before 5 pm). It will be possible to track your order.

4. OCS (Courier)
Your order will be delivered within a day and can be tracked online. Customers leaving for Japan within ten days are advised to ship by courier or pick order up at our office.

WHY DO YOUR PRICES OF THE JR PASSES CHANGE?
Our prices depend on the current exchange rate in Japan. We will always try to offer our clients the cheapest prices.

MY JR PASS WILL ARRIVE THE SAME DAY AS MY DEPARTURE FOR JAPAN, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
If you want to be sure, you can come by our office and place a new order there to immediately receive your passes.

I WILL LEAVE FOR JAPAN IN THREE DAYS, WHAT SHOULD I DO?
We advise you to pick up your order at our office, or ship your order by courier.

I WILL LEAVE FOR JAPAN TOMORROW, CAN I STILL ORDER A JR PASS?
If you come by our office during office hours, we can issue an exchange voucher on the same day.

IS IT CHEAPER TO BUY INDIVIDUAL TRAIN TICKETS OR A JR PASS?
You can plan your trip in advance via www.hyperdia.com to compare the ticket prices. If you are unsure, you can always consult us.

DOES MY CHILD (BELOW 6 YEARS OLD) REQUIRE A JR PASS?
Children below the age of 6 travel for free, however are expected to sit on a parent’s lap during the ride. When not particulary crowded, children are allowed to take a seat (per example in non-reserved/reserved coaches on the shinkansen), but are required to give up their seat when it is reserved for another passenger or when it is crowded on board. If you want to be ensured your child has a seat, please purchase a child’s fare JR Pass.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN THE ORDINARY JR PASS AND THE GREEN JR PASS?
The Green JR Pass enables you to use the first class green cabins (when available) on JR trains. Seats are generally wider, can be reclined and there may be more space for luggage.

HOW LONG IS THE JR PASS VALID FOR?
The JR Pass may be used in a window of three months from the date of issue.

IS THE JR PASS ONLY VALID FOR A PERIOD OF CONSECTIVE DAYS?
Yes,  all JR Passes are valid for either 7, 14 or 21 consecutive days. Some Area Passes are available for flexible periods.

HOW DOES THE EXCHANGE VOUCHER WORK?
The Exchange Voucher can be exchanged for the JR Pass within three months of the issue date on several JR stations and certain airports including Narita (Tokyo), Haneda (Tokyo) and Kansai International Airport (Osaka). If you are planning on travelling to Japan at a later date, please hold off on ordering your JR Pass at that time.

HOW DO I EXCHANGE THE VOUCHER?
You will receive a folder with all the available locations of the JR exchange offices when you place an order with us. You will have to show your passport and fill in a form with your information. It is not required to start using the pass the day of the exchange, you may pick a later date up to one month.

HOW DO I USE THE JR PASS?
As the JR Pass is a paper ticket, you cannot use it to go through the regular ticket gates at the JR train stations. Instead, you will have to show your JR Pass (and possibly, passport) to one of the employees at the ticket offices that can be found left or right next to the ticket gates.

IS IT NECESSARY TO RESERVE TRAIN SEATS IN ADVANCE?
During Japanese holidays (Obon, Golden Week or New Years) or when travelling with a family or group, it might be wise to reserve your seats.
Reservering seats can be done free of charge at the so-called ‘Midori no Mado Guchi’ that can be found on JR stations.

WHERE CAN I FIND DEPARTURE AND ARRIVAL TIMES?
A general timetable for for the regular shinkansen can be found here.
Timetables for the Tokaido and Sansho Shinkansen: Tokyo – Hakata (Fukuoka) and Hakata (Fukuoka) – Tokyo.

WHICH TRAIN ROUTES CAN I USE WITH THE JR PASS?
For the regular JR Pass a map with all the routes is available. (A map for the Area Passes can be found here.) You may use every JR train, including shinkansen, with the exception of the Nozomi and Mizuho trains.

WHICH BUSES CAN I USE WITH THE JR PASS?
Local city buses of JR including JR Hokkaido, JR Tohoku, JR Kanto, JR Tokai, JR West, JR Chugoku and JR Kyushu are included. Sample routes:

  • Yamaguchi – Hagi
  • Kyoto Station – Ryoanji temple – Takao
  • Kanazawa Station – Kenrokuen garden
  • Lake Towada (Aomori)
  • Loop bus in Hiroshima
  • Sapporo city
  • Kusatsu Onsen

WHICH FERRY CAN I USE WITH THE JR PASS?
The only ferry that is included in the JR Pass is the ferry from Hiroshima to Miyajima.

WHICH REGIONAL JR PASSES DO YOU HAVE FOR SALE?
Apart from the national JR Pass which allows for travel through all of Japan, we also offer the Kyushu Area Pass, JR East Pass, JR West Rail Pass, Hokkaido Rail Pass and All Shikoku Rail Pass through our webshop.
We also offer the Area Tourist Passes for specific regions:

OTHER

DO I REQUIRE A VISA TO TRAVEL TO JAPAN?
If you possess a Dutch passport and intend to visit Japan for sightseeing, visiting family or business, and plan on not staying longer than 90 days, you do not require a visa. If you are not sure whether you require a visa, please inform at the Japanese Embassy in The Hague.

WHERE CAN I GO DURING MY TRIP IF I HAVE ANY QUESTIONS?
