Validity
– Unlimited usage of JR Hokkaido trains
– Valid for the ordinary class of JR limited express, express and local/rapid trains.
– Unlimited usage of the JR Hokkaido Bus within Sapporo city + between Sapporo – Otaru.
– You can choose between validity of 3, 5 or 7 consecutive days, or 4 days flexible.
– An exclusive ticket only for a tourist with ‘Temporary Visitor’ stamp on his/her passport.

* Hokkaido Pass excludes Hokkaido Shinkansen

How it works:
1. Order outside of Japan, receive your exchange order and bring this order (voucher) with you on your trip.
2. Exchange the order in Japan and receive/activate the Japan Rail Pass on your preferred date.
3. Enjoy unlimited travel on all JR services, without needing separate tickets. Show your ticket at the gate and board the train/bus/ferry directly.

Know before Purchase

  • Make absolutely sure that you fill in your FULL name(s) as written in your passport. This generally includes all given names, middle names and official surname(s).

  • You can only buy the exchange order for the Japan Rail Pass outside of Japan and if you visit Japan on a tourist-visa (NOT a student visa, working permit etc.).

  • The Japan Rail Pass is a personal ticket, that can only be used by the person with a tourist visa whose name is written on the pass.

  • The exchange order you receive upon purchase is valid for 3 months from the date of purchase. Therefore, it is not possible to buy a Japan Rail Pass more than 3 months ahead of your trip.

  • You can exchange the order in Japan and, if you prefer, let your pass be activated on a later date, up to one month after exchange in Japan.

  • It is only possible to make seat reservations from within Japan.

Cancellation Policy

  • Area Passes are non-changeable and non-refundable.
